Summary

In Chapter 15, as soon as Sydney was inside Sarge’s apartment she realized not only that it was deserted but also that someone else had already searched it. Sarge’s office, where he had displayed mementos of Iraq, was destroyed. All of the photos he’d had tacked to the wall were missing. When Sydney checked the bathroom she recognized the smell of blood. She pulled back the shower curtain displaying an inch of dried blood on the floor of the tub. It was clear someone had died there. Sydney wondered if it was Sarge or someone else.
