Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned Adaptations

Dove Audio accompanied the hardcover release with audiocassette readings by Paul Winfield. A cable television presentation, with the screenplay written by Mosley, first aired in March 1998. The title was shortened to Always Outnumbered for this HBO original movie, a Palomar Pictures production directed by Michael Apted. The novel's non-violent message is preserved in a strong portrayal of Socrates by Laurence Fishburne. The movie treats Socrates's efforts to find a job, a home for the boy Darryl, and relief for his ailing friend Right Burke.
