Part Five, The Second Investigation, Chapters 78-82 Summary

Soneji begins to throw up violently in his cell. The guards call their supervisor, who happens to be the same man who found money at the abandoned farm where the kids were held. The supervisor escorts Soneji from his cell, telling the guards he is going to take him to the infirmary. However, instead of going to the infirmary, the two men go to the basement where there is an exit through security. Soneji pretends, in what is clearly a premeditated plan, to hold the supervisor hostage to get through the door. The two men get into the supervisor's car and exchange it with another car a few blocks away from the prison. It is clear the supervisor is expecting to get a large part of the ransom money for helping Soneji, but Soneji kills...
