Nicole Chung

Nicole Chung is the main character of her own memoir, a deeply inquisitive and curious Asian-American adoptee who grows up in a white household. Throughout her childhood, Chung frequently feels misunderstood by her all white community. Her early experiences with racism, bullying, and parents’ secrecy towards her adoption fuels her desire to search for her birth parents in adulthood. Although she remains thoughtful and enormously grateful for her adoptive parents’, she grows increasingly frustrated and suffocated by the small town she grows up in. When she is pregnant with her first child, Chung finally decides to search for answers regarding her adoption and reaches out to her birth parents.
