Chapters 14 - 15 Summary
As Lucifer is walking through the woods to the Grange, he meets Phyllida. She is on her way to the Manor to search the outbuildings for the traveling desk. Lucifer lets her and puts someone keeping guard of the building while he goes about his own business. Later on, however, he interrupts.
Lucifer wants Phyllida to understand that his motives for seducing her had nothing to do with getting her story. He tells her that he seduced her out of desire. They both can relate to desire, and they make love again in the outbuilding.
Lucifer tells Phyllida that he wouldn't have seduced her if he hadn't intended on marrying her. She points out the obvious—that she hasn't agreed to any such thing. He lets her know that he is aware of that, but that he is sure that she will.
With Lucifer and Phyllida's relationship back intact,...
