Structure

The biography is told in chronological order starting from Alexander’s birth in 1755, to his death in 1804. It has 12 chapters, each one titled with a direct quote from the chapter itself, usually spoken by Alexander or one of the other prominent people, such as George Washington for Chapter Six, and Alexander’s doctor in Chapter Twelve.
