Summary

In Chapter 12, everyone at school agrees that the fire at Moose’s apartment was no accident. When Moose tells Jimmy about his cap throwing contest with Donny, Jimmy says that he would have doubted that Donny could out throw Jimmy.

At home, Moose’s mom sends him for supplies for supper. The only store is owned by Bea. Annie offers to go in and get what he needs but when she opens the door, Moose hears her comment about Nat starting the fire. Moose cannot help but confront her. Bea assures Moose that she thinks that Nat is guilty, even without the report from the task force. When Bea threatens to go to the newspaper and even call Nat’s school, Annie’s mother insists that Bea is being unfair. Annie sees how upset Moose is getting and makes him go outside. She...
