CHAPTER 13

Em is sitting between her parents in Dr. Holcombe's office. Dr. Higgins is there as is Mr. Phillips, a representative of Stark Enterprises. Em is not the first person to have received a brain transplant. The others in the past have chosen to stay out of the public eye because of the ethical issues involved. Mr. Phillips tells Em that her parents made some agreements on her behalf before the surgery. The doctors tell her that Nikki had a previously unknown brain defect that killed her at the same time as Em. Em's parents agreed that Em, as Nikki, would honor all of the former model's contractual obligations and that if she didn't, they would have to pay back 2 million dollars, legal fees, and possibly face criminal prosecution.
