Summary

As Chapter 7 continues, Dot the investigator informs the sisters that Nancy has no criminal record, but this fact does not entirely reassure the sisters about Nancy’s character. Dot then asks to interview each of the sisters individually. Antonia does her best to give Dot as clear a portrayal of Izzy as possible. The sisters suspected that Izzy might be bipolar, but there was never any official diagnosis. Antonia tells Dot that Izzy had several failed marriages, and that she sometimes spontaneously through herself into sociopolitical causes in unsustainable ways. Antonia suddenly receives a phone call from Izzy. Izzy explains that when she went to put a deposit on the Athol property, she discovered that the next-door neighbors were about to euthanize their pet llamas.
