Love

There is a running theme throughout the novel Afterlife of love conquers all, even death. This theme is seen most prominently through the relationship between the main protagonists Will Brody and Claire McCoy first in how they interact with one another while still alive, when one party is in peril, and lastly when both are in the echo world.

At the start of the novel, Brody and Claire are engaged in a just-begun but quickly escalating love affair. However, their love story is not without its obstacles as Claire is already highly ranked in the FBI and has long-term careers ambitions, a fact that Brody acknowledges by saying that he would "quit the Bureau and write traffic tickets if that’s what it takes to be with you” (24). Even at this early stage in their relationship, Brody is willing to do anything to stay with Claire...
