Summary

In the first chapter, the main character and narrator, introduces herself to readers and tells readers how unhappy she is even though, on the surface, she has a perfect family and wonderful life. Then, in the second chapter, she sees her neighbor washing his car. She does not think about having sex with her neighbor, instead she would prefer to imagine having sex with a young reporter that works with her. As she looks at her neighbor washing his car, she thinks that he is like her and her husband, but also notices the importance her neighbor is giving to the act of washing the car. In the third chapter, she is on her way to work and talks about the way things are in Switzerland and how people's impressions about the country are wrong, but why the Swiss like it this way...
