Summary

At a loss for who might be playing the part of Abigail, Gina considers various possibilities, including Gedeon Torma, Susanna, and Kalmár. The girls attend a Sunday church service, during which Gina attempts to prevent the other fifth-year students from getting into trouble. She runs to the collection-box and deposits all of the coins that her classmates ‘gave’ her earlier, as spiteful repayment for the pastries from the General. When Mari Kis tells Gina that the class doesn’t need Gina to rescue them, Gina apologizes, to their surprise. During the night, air-raid sirens begin to sound, and the girls evacuate to the cellar of the school.
