Chapter 10 Summary

About halfway back to the rendezvous point, Nick falls and can't get back up. Lirael slings Nick over her shoulders and carries him. As she continues to walk, she finds herself about knee-deep in a marshy bog. At this point, Lirael realizes that when she fled from the Dead, she went in the wrong direction. Sam decides to pack up their belongings and walk toward Lirael.

Chapter 10 Analysis

Because Lirael is going in the wrong direction, and Sam is walking toward the rendezvous point, the two are going to miss each other. Separated like this, each group—Lirael, Dog and Nick, and Sam and Mogget—face their own dangers.
