During his stay in the village on the West Hand, Ged buys a new boat that is bigger and has a lesser need for spells to keep it afloat. In exchange, the man who Ged bought it from asked nothing. However, Ged removes the cataracts from the man's eyes for payment. The man is so pleased by this, he requests that Ged paint eyes on the boat and call it Lookfar, which he does. Ged also spends time in the village helping the villagers with their needs despite the fact that none have requested anything of him. Then Ged sets out on his search again.
