Chapter 3, The School for Wizards Summary

The next morning Ged disembarks the ship and goes in search of the school. As Ged wanders the island, he stops people to ask for directions. Every time these people respond with riddles which Ged takes as them mocking him. Finally, Ged goes to a door in a large building in the middle of town and asks if this is the school. The doorkeeper says it is and he should enter if he can. Ged tries to walk through, but cannot. Ged tries a spell but this does not work either. Ged asks the doorkeeper how to get inside. The man tells him to say his name. Reluctantly, Ged does as he is told and is allowed inside.
