Structure

The book includes an introduction, a prologue, and eight main chapters. The book opens with an anecdote about Trump’s disrespect of John McCain (a politician who was admired by both Democrats and Republicans) so as to establish the thematic focus on Trump’s character flaws. Chapter 1 introduces an overview of Trump’s impulsiveness, impatience, inattentiveness, and mercurial nature. The author also describes the dynamics in which some officials—such as the author—are attempting to curb Trump’s destructive impulses. Later chapters delve more deeply and specifically into Trump’s fundamental character flaws, such as his selfishness, lack of moral principles, lack of policy understanding, and inability to abide by any type of criticism.
