Book 3: Chapter 23 Summary

Ginny states that, when she thinks back on that day, what she remembers most is the morning, her fear that Rose had sensed something between her and Jess. The hog confinement representative promised to eat with them the next day, Tuesday, Ginny's day for having Larry for dinner. Storm clouds gather on the horizon; the area was already under a tornado watch. Larry steals Pete's truck. Ty goes searching for Larry. When he returns with him, he asks Ginny to step out, please, that Larry has something to say, that he thought Larry should say it in person. Larry then curses Ginny as a "barren whore."

Rose tells Larry to go home and apologize to Ginny in the morning—and that she knows about him, and he knows she knows. Ginny, too, stands.....
