The Tuesday after the property transfer, Ginny remembers back to when her house had been the Ericson's house, before her father had bought it (shortly after her mother's death). Larry, who was committed to modern farming techniques, like aerial spraying for increasing crop yield, saw no future in the old farming ways practiced by Cal Ericson. Cal had many animals but too few cows to be commercially viable; Cal needed his or Harold's help to fix broken machinery.
