Summary

In Chapter 19, “The Northern Front,” The youngsters discuss what Brystal learned from the tree as they travel. They have to pass through Black Bear Cave and discover lots of bears hibernating because of the cold weather. They discuss what may happen when they confront the Snow Queen. Though Brystal promised Madame Weatherberry she would kill the Snow Queen, she is not certain she actually can. When they arrive at the Northern Kingdom, the join General White's army. He initially tries to send them away but they begin to help, each in their own way, and he does not object. The youngsters quickly see that the army is confronting the four witches standing with the Snow Queen. Brystal and the others assume they have turned on Madame Weatherberry. The soldiers are out of ammunition and Emerelda begins turning snowballs into emerald cannonballs. When the...
