Summary

Chapter 13 is titled “The Watcher in the Woods.” Brystal and the others fall into a routine of practicing their magic during the day and reading together at night. Brystal is worried but chooses not to share those concerns with the others. One evening, Lucy and Tangerina get into an argument that ends when Tangerina says Lucy does not belong at the school. Brystal soon discovers a note from Lucy, saying she is leaving. Brystal rushes after her and finds Lucy crying in the woods outside the castle grounds. The girls have a heated argument in which Lucy says she is certain she is a witch and that she will come to look like the witches who came to get Madame Weatherberry. Brystal feels she is not getting through to Lucy and she shouts that she will not let Lucy throw away this opportunity...
