Summary

The protagonist receives a phone call from Yvan, the man she began dating after she separated from Christopher. The protagonist gives him an update on her search fro Christopher. In narration, she recalls the beginning of her relationship with Yvan. He was a friend of Christopher’s from university, and after the protagonist’s separation from Christopher, she happened to run in to Yvan on the street. They talked over coffee, and soon their friendship blossomed into a romance. The protagonist notes that Yvan is more reserved and self-contained than the extroverted, flirtatious Christopher. Soon after the protagonist began dating Yvan, Yvan asked her to move in with him. The protagonist agreed to this, and she presumed that Yvan had requested this so that she would no longer be living in the apartment she had shared with Christopher.
