This chapter is the transcript of Willie Singer's return letter to Tully. Since Willie is a bit of a lighthouse fan himself, he agrees to keep a lookout for Cleopatra's lens. Since he is now taking an alternate route to the Orient, he will be going through Samoa, Tahiti and to New Caledonia where the largest lighthouse in the Pacific is located.

Willie tells him that since he was approached by a book publisher to write a travelogue, he's going to practice his writing skills in his letters to Tully.
