Summary

Ishikawa is 31 years old when his youngest sister Masako tells him she is pregnant and that the father of the baby has refused to marry her. Ishikawa beats up the father, turning his rage into violence once again. Hifumi's husband finds someone for Masako to marry, a widower with two kids, and Masako moves away. Ishikawa misses his sister and feels ready to find someone to share his life with. In 1976, he marries a woman named Kim Te-sul, who is also a Japanese returnee. Ishikawa and his wife aren't able to live together however, because she has to care for her grandmother in another village. A few months later, a very pregnant Masako returns. Her husband and his family kicked her and his own two kids out of the house after learning that Masako had nothing of value from Japan to give them. She...
