Hadia’s Wedding

Hadia’s Wedding is both the first and the last setting in the novel where the entire family is together and dealing with problems that have built over years of fights and misunderstandings. This is where Hadia’s desire to create her own future clashes with Layla and Rafiq’s belief that they need to control their daughter’s decisions. The wedding is also where Amar sees Amira for the last time and learns that it was Layla who told Seema about their relationship. This is the last time that Amar’s family sees him after Rafiq is forced to send him away after he gets drunk after confronting Layla, and everyone – including Amar- decides to move on and do what they believe needs to be done.
