Chapters 17 and 18 Summary

In Chapter 17, Mary catches a train back to Oxford. A man in an obvious disguise enters Mary's train car pointing a gun at her. He gives her the option to drink a mixture and be their prisoner for a few days or to be shot. Mary chooses to drink the mixture and starts to doze off just as anther disguised man enters the train car. When Mary wakes, she is in darkness, sick and lying on cold stone. She falls back to sleep and wakes to the same circumstances some time later. Mary then begins to search her dark cell, where she finds a bed, some bread, water and odds and ends she may be able to use as weapons when her captors come to tell her what they want with her. Mary also realizes that she has an injection site...
