Summary

Jackie tells Terry that she is afraid of her parents’ disapproval of Terry’s return. She fears that her parents might refuse to help her in the future if she needs help with money or anything else. Terry says that he is also scared and nervous. They comfort one another in their uncertainty. In the morning, they awake with new courage and resolve. Jackie believes in her decision to take Terry back, and she decides to ignore any criticism that might come from her family. That evening, Jackie and Terry go on a walk together in City Park. They encounter Michael, a friend of Terry’s from when Terry was on crack cocaine. Terry and Michael converse for a minute, and Jackie becomes nervous, thinking about how Michael could potentially act as a trigger for a drug relapse in Terry. A few weeks later...
