Summary

The section begins with a woman named Meredith “Merry” Galanza. She is 27 years old and has many endearing letters from Morty. She is upset because he gave his estate and all of his artwork to his caretaker and not the museum. She is ready to lawyer up and fight for the pieces. The reader learns she is unmarried and has gone through a recent divorce.

The narrator returns to Tommy who has Morty’s ashes, but has no idea what to do with them. She receives a letter from her brother Dani giving his condolences for Morty’s death. Tommy thinks back on their childhood where her brother came to live with her after rebellious teenage years and met Morty.
