Jean Leveque, a.k.a. Mathieu

Mathieu is the leader and primary agent of a self-governing group of French citizens, known as the Resistance, who rebel against their Nazi occupiers by helping smuggle grounded Allied pilots over Occupied borders and back to their home forces. Although Mathieu may at first appear to be a professional spy -- i.e., using an alias, communicating clandestine messages with fellow secret operatives -- it is ultimately clear that his operation is much more home-grown, as he rarely even carries a gun with him, and is also most often worried about how to fully fund his operation.
