A Gathering of Days Related Titles
Brothers of the Heart: A Story of the Old Northwest, 1837-1838 continues the story of A Gathering of Days by focusing on the family of Sophia Perkins. Sophy is a minor character in A Gathering of Days who is sent to work in the mills of Lowell, Massachusetts, just a few days after her fifteenth birthday. Although the second novel takes place in Michigan and stresses the adventures of Sophy's crippled brother, Shem, in the wilderness. Blos keeps the reader in touch with the lives of Catherine, Uncle Jack, and Ann Hall. Brothers of the Heart has a looser form than AGathering of Days, and is written as a historical adventure rather than as a journal.
