Summary

In Chapter Twenty-five, as Gwen stands on the parapets of the castle looking for Thor and the others to return, she is confronted by Alton. Alton tries to convince her to marry him, telling her that Thor has been killed. Gwen refuses. Trying to convince her, Alton tells her that she risks being married off by her brother, the new king. Shaken, she heads for the gardens but is pushed down the stairs on her way there. It is Gareth’s dog, back to try to kill her. She tries to hit him with the dagger that Godfrey gave her but he is too quick. Just as he is about to hit her with spiked metal knuckles, Steffen steps in to stop him.
