Summary

In Chapter Seventeen, Gareth enters the throne room, trying to remember why he wanted to be king. To his surprise, the throne is turned around backward with the corpse of his father sitting in it. The corpse frowns at Gareth telling him that his blood hangs on him. Gareth blinks and looks back to find the throne empty. He sits in the throne and experiences a burning pain. Thorns are growing from the chair, wrapping themselves around him. Gareth wakes from his dream expecting his father to be in the room with him. He decides to go to the witch for answers.

Once at the witch’s cottage she tells him that she knows he has come for assurance that he will not die as he killed his father. She informs him that she cannot give him what she does...
