Summary

In Chapter Nine, Gwen has a dream in which she and her father are playing together in a field. Suddenly the dream changes and her father is on his back, stuck in the mud. She struggles to help him but a man in a black cloak with a scar on his face who is missing one eye tries to kill her. Her father’s corpse grabs the man and throws him over the parapets of the castle. She wakes up when her father’s corpse tells her that she is not safe there.

Once awake, Gwen decides to go to King’s River to regain her composure. After she finishes bathing, Gwen emerges from the water to discover her towel is missing. As she tries to comprehend what has happened, a man grabs her from behind. It appears to be...
