Summary

In Chapter Seven, Erec, Brandt and the Duke find there way to the tavern where Alistair is working as an indentured servant. When he first saw Alistair he had believed that she was royalty. Although the owner of the inn and tavern tells Erec that he will not let Alistair go, Erec tell him that he intends to win a jousting contest, the prize of which is the freedom to marry the woman of his choice. Erec tells the man and Alistair that he intend to choose her is she will have him. Alistar runs from the room when Erec asks for her consent. He says he will stay there the night to see if Alistair will give him an answer in the morning.
