Summary

In Chapter Five, Gareth is preparing to see if he is capable of lifting the Dynasty Sword. He has invited the public to witness the ceremony. When he tries to lift the blade, Gareth is unable to do so. Gareth is embarrassed and humiliated at his failure.

In Chapter Six, Gareth is completely devastated by his inability to wield the Dynasty Sword. He feels that everything he had ever thought about himself and his destiny has been wrong. He can still see the image of his father’s scowling face, as it came to him as he failed to lift the weapon. It is at this point that his wife, Helena, mocks him and asks him for a divorce. Though he briefly considers giving her the divorce, he decides against it when she tells him that she is in love...
