Summary

In Chapter 30, Patrick remembers the final week of his father's life. The cancer caused him to lose down to 112 pounds. He asked if Patrick loved him and Patrick didn't respond. Edgar asked about forgiveness but Patrick said Edgar “used it all up.” Patrick then realized that he'd been hoping for some explanation about the abuse and that it wasn't going to happen.

In Chapter 31, Patrick and Angie meet Mulkern and Jim Vurnan at the Hyatt Regency at 1:30 a.m. on July 5. Patrick hands Mulkern the bill for his services, then says that Curtis Moore began watching Patrick's apartment almost immediately after Mulkern hired him.
