Summary

In Chapter 25, the two boys come back to see Bella. They give Bella some water, then go for help when they discover Axel’s body. One of the boys stays behind to feed Bella, apologizing for what happened to Axel. Tom and others arrive at the scene. Tom is deeply saddened by Axel’s death. People at the scene question what to do with Bella. Bella remains with Axel’s things, knowing a dog learns by repetition. However, Bella is determined to find Lucas, so Bella decides to do Go Home once more. Days pass. Bella continues to scavenge for food as she goes. Bella then becomes aware she is being followed by coyotes. She prepares to turn and fight.
