Summary

In Chapter 40, five of the six mortal queens arrive with guards, saying the sixth queen is unwell. They refuse to say how they are able to winnow, only that the ability was a gift from a faerie. They are unconcerned that war is looming, saying they will defend their main lands but will not defend the land nearest Prythian. They make it clear they do not care how many faeries die. They refuse to consider giving up their half of the Book of Breathings. Morrigan goes on a rampage, citing another war that began when a half-human (Miryam) was transformed, similar to how Fayre has been transformed. Now Miryam lives in peaceful place inhabited by both human and faerie. The queens demand proof, but they also believe Rhysand is a brutal lord and are skeptical of his motives.
