Summary

In Part 12, Chapter 1, the group disposes of the dead by throwing them overboard. Lila tells Kell that the Faroan gems that Jasta was paid with only come free by force, or at the moment of death.

In Chapter 2, back in the Red London palace, King Maxim finishes his blood spell. He discovers that Lord Sol-in-Ar warned his kingdom Faro about Osaron and asked them to send reinforcements, agains King Maxim's orders. He has the lord escorted back to his rooms. King Maxim feels the spell draining his magic and arranges his affairs, writing letters to his family. The Veskan princess Cora interrupts and attacks him with knives, which are poisoned.
