Summary

Chapter 29

Gwen practices with her bow, disappointed in her difficulties with hitting her target. Krohn is with her. She does not feel safe hiding at her mother's palace. Steffen comes to her. He is an old servant who has been kind to her through her entire life. She thanks him, and asks him to be her advisor. Steffen is honored, and offers to help her with her archery. He is excellent at it himself, and helps her to improve immediately. Krohn snarls, and a dozen men on horseback approach. The Nevaruns are back. Steffen grabs his bow and tells her to run. He shoots down three men almost instantly. Gwen grabs another bow and strikes down another. The remaining men reach them, but Gwen is saved by Krohn, then Estopheles. Gwen's group manages to defeat the Nevaruns, but hundreds more appear close by...
