Summary

In Chapter 9, society begins to slowly return to a partial sense of stability. Some roads are cleared, and some businesses reopen. The teens converse with the parents, scolding them for being so careless. The teens also scold the parents for the damage their generation has done to the planet. The only surviving member of the soldiers is a young man called Red, who was forced into the soldiers’ service. He was the same person who fell into the ditch and broke his leg. The owner of the farm sets and bandages his leg, then gives him ownership of the farm, as he has no home or family. The teens and adults decide to travel to the mansion owned by Juicy’s family.
