Summary

In Chapter 1, Bat stood at the open refrigerator door. Even though he did not like to waste energy, he also did not see any snacks that he liked. He thought his sister, Janie had probably eaten all of the vanilla yogurts. His nickname Bat has stuck because he had sensitive hearing and flapped his hands like a bat when he got nervous or excited. Also, the initials of his name spelled Bat. He confronted Janie about the yogurt. She teased him until he started to flap his hands. At that point, she agreed to make him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with no crusts.

In Chapter 2, Bat’s room is the only place that he feels completely at ease. No one came into his room, so everything was exactly how he wanted it. Janie had made him a sign for his door...
