Chapter 1 Summary

The phone rings and Vincent answers it to find his cousin Bastien from New York on the other end. Bastien informs Vincent that he has sent his private investigator to help him find who is sabotaging his plays and to be expecting the private investigator to be there any minute. Bastien also tells Vincent that his mother Marguerite, Vincent's aunt, was going to be arriving later that night and to be expecting a package of blood to be arriving.

Just then the doorbell rings and Vincent opens the door to find a woman and a man at the door. The woman introduces herself as Jackie and the man as Tiny. Vincent doesn't even shake her hand as he slams the door in their faces and yells at Bastien that Jackie is a woman and they are humans. When Bastien tells him to trust...
