Chapter 34 & 35 Summary

The fishermen are fishing a bit away from their usual fishing grounds. They have an extraordinarily heavy net, but as Sconzo lifts it up, he sees the mine. Three men are dead before Sconzo has a chance to get away from the underwater mine. Tomasino races over to where the boat was, but no one remains. Tomasino docks his boat and walks to the Palazzo to be the first one to tell Joppolo the news. They both want to claim responsibility for the deaths, but Tomasino tells him that he will not be attending Joppolo's party because it is inappropriate to be there.
