Chapters 25, 26 & 27 Summary

Joppolo returns to Tomasino's house to give Tina an update on the political prisoners. He is not certain if her lover is still alive, but he knows that they are being released soon and Tina will have her answer. He also hints at the end of their conversation that he is beginning to like her.

Ultimately, Joppolo wants to be a popular figure in the town and wants to be liked by the people. He is not a stereotypical politician, but he does try to make moves that will get him liked in town. So when Zito arrives one morning to announce that the leaders of Adano would like to see him, it makes him nervous. However, when they arrive, they simply command him to get his picture taken by a man named Spataforo. Joppolo is warned that the man has bad manners...
