Chapter 10, 11 & 12 Summary

Mayor Nasta walks down the main road of Adano. Steadily, a crowd gathers behind him, jeering him. Captain Purvis and Major Joppolo are having lunch together when they see the spectacle. The crowd instantly calls for Mayor Nasta's head. Instead, Joppolo arrests the man and throws him in jail. Mayor Nasta screams for a new chance; Joppolo responds by telling him that he never gave the people of Adano a chance, so why should he extend the privilege to him?

Joppolo tells Nasta that every morning, he must report to Borth, and repent for a number of sins. Afterwards, he will work at the chores that Borth gives him.
