Chapters 3-4 Summary

In chapter 3, Hickey attempts to reassure Karen that Abby is safe and will remain so as long as she follows his rules. Karen moves away from him and searches the house. Karen tries to call the police, but the phones have all been dialed into a recorded message. Karen returns to the kitchen with Will's gun and holds Hickey at gunpoint. However, Hickey convinces her that if something happens to him, if he does not call his partner every half hour, Abby will die. Hickey then explains that someone will be joining Will at his hotel in Biloxi and stay with him until morning. Then Will will be instructed to contact his accountant and give him a story about a rare sculpture he has found that he needs to pay cash for immediately.
