Setting

Sophie Etoile lives in de Lint's fictional city of Newford, where many of his adventures are set. The city is a large, complicated place, with a mix of rich and poor, of residential areas and industrial ones. She is an artist who does not like attending her own art shows but ends up at one anyway. Her dream world is an escape from Newford and its problems, not that she does not like her friends such as Max, but she has a dream place called Mabon where she can have fun.....
