Summer Sisters Overview

Preview of Summer Sisters Summary:

Two young women form a lifelong bond after Caitlin Somers asks Victoria Leonard to leave Santa Fe, New Mexico, to spend the summer with her at her father's summer home on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Summer Sisters follows the intertwining lives of these two girls, as they make their respective voyages into adulthood. Although the central figure of conversation and depiction is Caitlin Summers, the story actually focuses on the life of Victoria, and on how Victoria's friendship with Caitlin overwhelmingly shapes and influences the choices and sacrifices Victoria makes throughout her life. Both women's lives are fully explored, but it is Victoria's story that is being specifically chronicled, creating a sense of mystery about Caitlin that allows the reader to experience Victoria's sense of the known and unknown aspects of her own life.
