Several of Cadnum's characters are involved in theatrical pursuits such as set design and play production, creating scenes of dialogue and action occurring in settings that enhance the plot's drama. Describing characters' clothes like costumes, Cadnum paints the scenery with his lyrical sketches of the sunlight and landscape. Jennifer's body is the main setting of Rundown.
