The death of a parent and the search for one's identity are two inseparable themes in this novel. The Morning of the Gods is a novel which can be clearly used for the discussion of the death of a parent and the manner in which a child can try to overcome his or her loss. This is naturally not an easy process, nor is it portrayed in this manner in the novel. It is made even more complex by the fact that the death of the heroine's parent has influenced her so negatively that she not only has to come to terms with the situation and with her loneliness, but also has to try and find her own unique character and her identity again.
